World Gaelic Week 2025 – Building Connections
As part of this year’s Seachdain na Gàidhlig, we embraced the theme of ‘Building Connections‘ with a week packed full of exciting activities across all Òganan settings.
From visits between different groups and welcoming people into our spaces for reading and singing sessions, to creating new pen pal friendships, it was a wonderful celebration of community and connection.
Here are some of the highlights!

Òganan Dhùn Èideann: The children created a scrapbook titled ‘What Gaelic Means to Me’, sharing their thoughts on the language and how they see it in the city.

They also wrote letters to pen pals in Fort William, and we can’t wait to hear back!

Òganan Ghlaschu (Glendale): The children travelled to Govan to join all Glasgow settings for a fun-filled bake-off competition, bringing the community together. And all the baking was very tasty!

Òganan Ghlaschu (Govan): The after-school club children visited the nursery for a reading session, sharing their favourite Gàidhlig stories with the younger children.

Òganan Bhaile a’ Ghobhainn: The nursery had a fantastic trip to Comhairle nan Leabhraichean (The Gaelic Books Council). They enjoyed a story and song session with Alison, explored Gaelic books, and even brought some back to the setting.

A subway adventure and a fun visit to the park capped off the day!

Òganan Dhùn Èideann (Early Years): The early years children enjoyed a Leugh le (Read with-) Linda session, drawing inspiration to create their very own storybook about Coinneach the Bear.

It was a week full of learning, laughter, and connection—bringing Gàidhlig to life across our communities!
